Watercolor - 1980
NEW Limited Edition Giclee Reproduction Available

This special vintage print was made for the Fifty Year Retrospective exhibit of my Dad’s
work at the Brewster Ladies’ Library.

The artist says:

"I used Hake wide watercolor brushes to pull paint to represent the cast shadows I'd see along my
long country drive home from teaching in the city. This watercolor was my third acceptance
into an Ohio Watercolor Society Annual Exhibit that qualified me for Signature Member Status.
We learned of this honor while on vacation in Brewster (before cell phones!) at the pay phone in the Brewster Store."

 Nest Eggs

 Nest Eggs
Etching and Engraving on Zinc Plate
1967

The artist says:

"This was my first printmaking project.
At the time, the other students were doing landscapes and I was creating this detailed piece.
The beginnings of my interest in detail - but balanced with loose and abstract qualities."

Farm

 Farm
Oil on Canvas
1968

The artist says:

"I painted this in a studio class in art school. It was the late sixties and everyone was
painting in an abstract, avant-garde sort of way, and I was the only one going against the grain.
I never felt comfortable with pure abstraction so I incorporated some
recognizable elements into the painting, because that was my instinct."

 Study in Grey and White

 Study in Grey and White
Oil on Panel
1968

The artist says:

"This was my experiment using a complete abstract style.
We were studying the painting of James Whistler's Arrangement in Grey and Black No. 1,
better known as "Whistler's Mother",
and we were to explore our own interpretations."

 Ball Turret Gunner

 Ball Turret Gunner
Etching, Aquatint, and Engraving
1968

The artist says:

"One of my first works in printmaking - where my love of printmaking began.
The subject is inspired from a poem by Randall Jarrell from 1945."

I started a series of my own drypoint engravings,
using the same printmaking process as my Dad,
(and influenced by his many tree studies),
but I'm using a sepia ink with only a small bit of color for some.
It's been wonderful to work with him in the studio!
